PRICING US OUT OF JOB
FAMILIES suffered a double blow yesterday as the latest inflation figures were revealed.
One measure showed prices were rising by 3.2% largely due to the soaring cost of food.
But another measure, often used by firms to decide pay awards, has inflation at zero.
It means that household costs are on the increase while the chance of a wage hike to cope is receding.
What’s more, experts are convinced there’s worse to come.
They believe deflation – falling prices – is inevitable.
This may sound desirable, but it will plunge the economy into a downward spiral by damaging business, throwing more people out of work and adding to the public debt.
Meanwhile, with the country in chaos, Gordon Brown began a five-day world tour that takes in France, the United States, Brazil and Chile.
It would be best for Britain, if this loser took a permanent vacation.
