GAS CUT IS CON TRICK

BRITISH Gas’s decision to slash 7% off bills leaves us cold.

They say their eight million customers will save £55 each.

The poorest people on pre-pay meters will save most as the rip-off premium rate is finally axed.

Of course it’s good news that the hard-pressed public will save.

But the timing is astounding – just as the coldest winter for years ENDS.

They say it’s all to do with the rising and falling wholesale cost of gas.

But it’s a bit convenient, isn’t it?

And, as experts point out, why aren’t electricity prices falling too?

Customers have been screwed by utility companies for years, knowing there’s little we can do.

And we suspect prices will rise again in time for the next cold snap.

British Gas and their rivals are just trying to sugar their very bitter pill.

Their price reductions are too little, too late.
