AN audience with MMA royalty is sometimes a little hard to come by.
RAGING Wladimir Klitschko is so desperate to zip David Haye’s lip he’s even willing to punch the Londoner’s lights out in a car park.
DAVID HAYE has told Wladimir Klitschko he is not interested in fighting him in front of “a load of boring Germans”.

COUTURE AND COLEMAN WILL BATTLE ON

ABOVE: Randy Couture, pictured, and Mark Coleman have both dismissed any thoughts of retirement
2nd February 2010

By Kevin Francis

THEY have a combined age of 91 – but the advancing years don’t worry them one little bit.

In fact, UFC Hall of Famers Randy Couture and Mark Coleman have both dismissed any thoughts of retirement ahead of their light-heavyweight clash on Saturday.

The evergreen duo meet in Las Vegas at UFC 109 and believe they are still at the top of their game.

Coleman, 45, said: “If I had listened to the critics, I would have retired 10 years ago. This won’t be my last fight and I don’t think it will be Randy’s. This is what I love to do and there is no reason for me to retire."

“I can still compete with all the guys out there because, as I have got older, I have learned to train smarter and take care of myself.”

Those thoughts are echoed by 46-year-old Couture, who said: “I have got better, as I have got old, at listening to my body."

“Win or lose, Mark and I still have a lot to contribute to the sport. This is certainly not a make-or-break fight for us.”

Couture (17-10-1) is coming off a unanimous points win over Brandon Vera in November and the bout will be his third in less than six months.

It’s the quickest turnaround between fights in his career, although the American star claims the short breaks have kept him sharp.

He said: “It hasn’t been negative, rolling one camp into the next. Technically I feel really good. The ground game has really been built from one camp to the next. Physically I feel good, too.”

Couture says the reason for the quick turnarounds has been the opportunities UFC president Dana White has been willing to offer, partially due to a recent high volume of injured fighters.

It just happened to work out that Coleman was available after having to pull out of his last scheduled fight with Tito Ortiz in November.

The winner is likely to have a shot at current champion Lyoto Machida and my guess is that Couture will defeat Coleman on points.

UFC 109 will be screened live here on ESPN from 11.30pm on Saturday February 6. UFC rookie Kimbo Slice stars in an action-packed new DVD which features the bare-knuckle world of street fighting in awesome 3D.

The film is called ‘Blood and Bone’ and includes many of the world’s top MMA exponents. ‘Blood and Bone’ is out on Blu-ray and DVD, courtesy of Momentum Pictures.
