CARL FROCH NOT INTERESTED IN HERNING

ABOVE: Carl Froch fears he will not be treated fairly if his title clash with Kessler takes place in Hernin
1st February 2010

By Nick Parkinson

CARL Froch fears he will not be treated fairly if his world title clash with Mikkel Kessler takes place in the Danish city of Herning.

Nottingham's WBC super-middleweight king is worried his fans might not be able to get to Herning as easily as Copenhagen and the two camps are still in talks to resolve the row.

A larger venue is available in Herning with the promise of more cash for the fighters. But Froch, 32, has warned organisers of the Super Six tournament he is not interested  in earning more money.

He wants the fight in Copenhagen or Nottingham rather than Herning. He said: “it will be difficult for my fans to get to Herning, but much easier if it was in Copenhagen. It has got to be mutually agreeable and it’s never going to be mutually agreeable if the fight takes place in Herning. I’m not going to Herning.”

Froch’s former victim Brian Magee, 34, had no complaints about fighting outside Copenhagen when he stopped Dane Mads Larsen in the seventh round to win the European super-middleweight title in Aarhus on Saturday.

The Belfast boxer, stopped in the 11th round by Froch in 2006, had not boxed in over a year  due to injury.
