PLANET OF SOUND (2.30) looks on a handy mark for today’s William Hill Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter this afternoon.


Most jumps trainers have only just started putting the finishing touches to their horses on the grass gallops, so fitness levels have to be taken on trust.

But Philip Hobbs has been hitting the net with regularity this season and Planet Of Sound has plenty of decent form on soft ground and his third to Forpadydeplasterer in the Arkle at Cheltenham shows he has the class to be involved in today’s finish.

He had I’msingingtheblues and Panjo Bere behind him that day.

Both I’msingingtheblues and top weight Twist Magic are using this as a stepping stone towards their main target, the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown.

Alan King, despite three wins in three days, told me that Oh Crick would be better for the run, though Tom George is hoping for a big run from Nacarat, especially if it rains.

I shall be just as interested in the chasing bow of Nick Gifford’s DEE EE WILLIAMS (3.0), who has the size and class to be very smart.

But this too is very competitive with Sunnhyhillboy the main threa
