SPARKS CREATES NECKLACE FOR HAITI

9th February 2010

Singer JORDIN SPARKS can add jewellery designer to her resume - she's created a necklace to raise funds for the Haiti relief effort.

The No Air hitmaker has joined forces with Pennyroyal Silver designer Tim Foster to create her own pendant for the company, with a portion of the creation's profits set to help survivors of the earthquake, which ravaged the Caribbean country last month (12Jan10).

Sparks' necklace will include the Japanese inscription 'Suki Desu', meaning 'I love' and will be available from the jewellery company's official website.

She tells Hollyscoop, "I am so excited to be working with Pennyroyal Silver on this project! Suki Desu means 'I like' or the more casual form of 'I love' in Japanese. I really like this phrase and it inspired the drawing. Just my way of encouraging you to do something positive to help someone else, 30 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of this pendant will go to Sparks Charities to fund mobile medical clinics in Haiti."

Sparks has also helped raise funds for Haiti by recording a part in the all-star We Are The World track, alongside singers including Celine Dion and the Jonas Brothers.
